The Witching Hour is an action / puzzle game with some adventure-style gene released only for the SAM Coupe. The game offers nice graphics, nice music and that addictive “one more go” quality.

The Witching HourSTORY / GAMEPLAY
Gretta the good witch or Beardy (you choose who) the wizard must to destroy the Demon Master, who has captured all the villagers of a small sea-side town, bar a few remaining survivors. While in your quest you can enter doors of buildings and look inside them for objects. Similar to an adventure game, the following six commands can be used on n object: pick up, drop, talk, use, examine and give. Most puzzles involve using an object at the right location or giving it to the right character. But only two objects can be picked up at a time, so you need to leave one (or both two) in order to carry another. During your quest, you have to overcome certain hazards, including some rather large ghosts, a hazardous river, and much more.
The Witching Hour is certainly a nice action puzzle arcade, with some interesting puzzles to solve (depending on what the character met need for you to succeed)

GRAPHICS / SOUND
Graphics are quite colorful, with some nicely detailed sprites moving smoothly, and some interesting details (check the floating -but hazardous- river). The main-menu music is extremely tuneful and has been done by the wonderful Craig Tuberfield (done the music in Lemmings). During gameplay though, there is not music, rather than a few simplistic sound effects, which is rather at the negative side of the game.
